What’s the Deal with Handholding Anyway?

Before you give up on me and call me a love Grinch, let me clear the air:

I’m all for holding someone’s hand as the two of you are walking together.

Hell, I’ll go as far as to say I’m completely ok with you linking your arms or putting your hand in your partners pocket.

Anything that you’re comfortable with.

But, please, someone explain: what’s the deal with handholding while sitting down?

Are you scared your partner will run away if you let go for just a second?

Is the strenght of your relationship somehow related to the firmness of your grip?

I’ve seen three different couples holding hands while drinking coffee tonight alone.

And I’ve really tried, but I just don’t get it.

So if you’ve got an explanation, I’m all ears.

  1. I don’t have an explanation. Sometimes people just feel like holding hands and that’s that. Maybe it makes them feel warm or even secure. It doesn’t matter. Everyone should do what they feel is right.
And it is completely okay if you don’t feel like doing that or if you find it weird.
